One newsletter became a connected system.
Alvarado Hospital first hired Keeks for a focused recurring need: produce the monthly newsletter. The assignment required editorial planning, content organization, design, layout, and reliable production for an institution communicating with patients, staff, physicians, donors, departments, and the surrounding community.
That recurring work exposed a wider challenge. The hospital needed greater consistency across its website, identity, advertising, event materials, patient communications, campus visibility, and departmental requests. Over three years, Keeks became the creative and marketing partner helping those pieces move through one connected system.

How the partnership expanded.
Four stages show how one recurring publication became the brand, website, marketing, and campus-visibility work behind a complex hospital. Each stage built on the one before it.
- 01Monthly newsletterA focused recurring publication for hospital and community communication.
- 02Brand and websiteIdentity, digital structure, service-line content, and public hospital presence.
- 03Marketing and campus visibilityAdvertising, events, patient materials, and the large ER building application.
- 04Connected creative supportRecurring production and brand governance across departments over three years.
The newsletter became the rhythm.
The newsletter changed every month. New departments, leadership messages, hospital events, service updates, patient education, community initiatives, and institutional announcements all had to fit inside one recognizable publication system.
Keeks supported the recurring editorial and production process, from content organization and layout through final issue preparation. The newsletter gave Alvarado a reliable communication cadence while proving that the brand could remain consistent across constantly changing information.

One identity across information and care.
A hospital brand must communicate trust before it communicates style. Patients need clarity, families need reassurance, physicians need credibility, and departments need materials that remain recognizable without rebuilding the system for every new request.
Keeks developed the identity and website around that institutional need. Logo, typography, color, hierarchy, service-line organization, content structure, and patient-facing pathways worked together to give the hospital a more consistent public presence.

The brand had to work at building scale.
The emergency room needed a clearer public presence for people approaching the hospital by car, on foot, or from the surrounding streets. The communication had to be immediate and visible without feeling like a commercial advertisement.
Keeks created a large-format ER banner and campus-visibility application for the side of the hospital building. The work carried the identity beyond digital and printed materials into the physical environment where clarity and recognition mattered most.

One system across every format.
Hospital communication does not arrive in one format or on one schedule. Advertising, departmental materials, event invitations, programs, patient brochures, community outreach, recognition pieces, and service-line campaigns all served different audiences and moments.
Keeks created those materials within the same visual and editorial system. Each piece needed to work independently while still feeling connected to the hospital’s website, newsletter, identity, and campus presence.

Every new piece stayed connected.
Hospital communication needs are continuous and fragmented by nature. Departments work on different timelines, service lines have different audiences, and institutional priorities shift throughout the year.
Across three years, Keeks supported templates, asset organization, recurring production, approvals, vendor coordination, large-format preparation, and direct creative needs across the hospital. The system helped the tenth, twentieth, and fiftieth piece continue to feel like the same institution.
Work across four layers.
One institution. All four layers. Strategy, brand, product, and operations moved together.

Where it stands.
Alvarado Hospital hired Keeks for a monthly newsletter and gained a connected creative and marketing partner. Across three years, Keeks supported the former hospital brand across identity, website, advertising, event materials, patient communications, newsletters, campus visibility, and recurring public-facing production.
The engagement is complete. The former Alvarado Hospital brand was later acquired and renamed, so this case study documents historical Keeks work rather than current hospital marketing or current Keeks management.
A monthly newsletter expanded into a sustained hospital brand, website, marketing, and creative-production partnership.
A recurring monthly publication designed and produced across the engagement.
Identity, public story, service-line structure, and digital experience organized under one system.
A large-format emergency-room application extended the brand onto the hospital building.
Advertising, events, outreach, patient collateral, and departmental materials created across multiple formats.
Templates, recurring production, asset support, and creative governance helped keep public-facing materials connected.
